Scientific priorities

* Soil physical properties. Indicators for soil physical status: soil physical degradation and soil compaction; soil drought; surface soil waterlogging;
* Measurement and assessment of parameters of soil-plant-atmosphere system;
* Soil water and heat balances. Radiation characteristics of soils and plant cover;

* Physiological and physical indicators for water and temperature stress of plants;
* Specialized soil-climate databases for modeling and analyses of agroecological risks;
* Calibration, validation and use of crop growth simulation models for optimization of irrigation scheduling and risk assessment analyses of yields and environmental impacts related to climate variability and change;

* Impact of furrow irrigation non-uniformity and efficiency on yield, water and nitrogen losses.

Research of applied results

* Modeling, methodological studies and estimation of physical characteristics of soils, soil substrates and materials, which could be used as soil conditioners;
* Design and exploitation of phytoclimatic chambers for plant growing under controlled climatic conditions;

* Exenergetic analysis of phytoclimatic chambers;
* Design and calibration of tools for agrophysical measurements. Soil moisture regulators for maintaining water content in pots, green areas, gardens etc. Instrument timing of irrigation;
* Estimation of thermal moisture transfer in soil;
* Assessment of the impact of agrotechnologies on soil drying;
* Technology for determination of drought and frost resistant agricultural crops;
* Water saving and environmentally oriented technologies of furrow irrigation: continuous and surge irrigation; Alternative furrow irrigation and fertilization;

* Precise irrigation scheduling adapted to different irrigation technologies and climate uncertainties;
* Melioration of surface waterlogging fine textured soils.
